7 Steps for Healthier Skin
Do you want the most Vibrant skin you have ever had,
and keep it?
Step 1 CLEANSE YOUR SKIN EVERYDAY; GET PROFESSIONAL ADVICE
We all know we need to cleanse our skin each and every day, usually morning and night, but do you know which cleanser and skin care line is right for your skin type? Visit an Aesthetician once a month for professional skin care treatments and to help you find what products will work for you to achieve the skin you have always wanted. Choosing the right cleanser, toner, exfoliant, and moisturizer can dramatically change the appearance of your skin; from the texture to the breakouts.
Step 2 YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT
We have all heard the myth "chocolate makes you breakout". While this may not be entirely true it is true that foods can trigger breakouts or cause redness. By eating a balanced whole food diet you will not only see an improvement in your energy, but your will notice an improvement in your skin healthy glow. The vitamins, minerals, and dietary fiber found in foods such as fresh, organic fruits and vegetables will have very positive effects on your skin. Eating foods that are processed and have high amounts of saturated fat make your skin look dull and enhance wrinkles.
Step 3 PROTECTION FROM THE SUN
With skin cancer rates getting higher each year, a vital step in skin care is wearing a full spectrum sunscreen everyday. The sun’s rays not only cause skin cancer, they can also cause hyperpigmentation (freckles), age spots to appear darker, wrinkles, and decrease the collagen and elastin in our skin. Basically, the sun’s rays make you look older and LESS radiant. It is imperative that everyone, men, women and children, wear at least SPF 15. Many makeup products have SPF in them, but you still need to wear a full SPF 15 in addition to the makeup.
Step 4 EXERCISE
It's on TV, magazines, and the news; everyone is telling you to exercise. It's everywhere you go because it's the truth! Exercising as little as 3-4 times a week for 30 minutes, enough to elevate your heart rate, can actually help improve your skin! How? You ask. Exercise improves your circulation and strengthens your blood vessels which decreases the chance of developing broken capillaries. Plus, exercise helps improve tone and color of your skin. Note: Make sure to wash your face and neck after exercising to remove sweat and bacteria that can cause breakouts.
Step 5 DRINK MORE WATER
For some people 8 glasses of water a day just isn't enough. You should be drinking half your weight in ounces of water daily. If you exercise more, drink more. Keeping your body hydrated with water, especially here in the desert. This will make your skin look plump (a good thing) and give it a nice glow by removing toxins. Allowing yourself to become dehydrated increases the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles.
Step 6 VITAMIN A
Vitamin A is known as "the mother for the skin". By eating foods like carrots and pumpkin that are rich in vitamin A you can achieve better skin. You've heard of Accutane and Retin- A being prescribed by dermatologist to treat acne - the main ingredient in these product is vitamin A. A simple way to enhance the beauty of your skin by giving it a Vitamin A boost is to receive chemical peels from your Aesthetician that have a high vitamin A content, like a Pumpkin Facial!
Step 7 SLEEP
One of the biggest things people do not get enough of in life is SLEEP. Your body needs time to heal itself from the stressors of you day and it heals when you are sleeping! A good 8 hours is needed each night to notice a difference in your lifestyle. Receiving enough sleep can also improve how we react to stress, which is also another big factor that can lead to unhealthy skin.
These are simple things you can do to achieve the skin you've always wanted. Visit an Aesthetician once a month to “tune up” your skin. With professional treatments you will see a reduction in age appearance, less acne breakouts, control over hormonal skin and rosacea.
An aesthetician can also answer any questions you may have about your skin and guide you in the right direction for great looking skin. Your face is how people remember you, so make sure you put your best face forward!
