A True Harmony Minute on Poo by Tiffany Kuehn

Hello! I’m Tiffany Kuehn, Licensed Massage Therapist and Health Educator at the Center for True Harmony Wellness & Medicine. Here’s some information on normal bodily functions and substances, specifically Poo.

Many people ask, “What is a normal bowel movement and how often should I be having a bowel movement a week”? With our busy American culture the average person ‘goes’ every other day to every two days. However, it is OPTIMAL to have 1 bowel movement a day, foot long in size, walnut in color, and the size of your rectum (about 1inch).

There are many reasons that our bowel movements become less than ideal.  Our nutrition, stress in our lives and toxins that enter our bodies whether through food, products we use or our environment all play a role in the health of our bowel movements.  Check back for my next blog post which will include ways to improve the chances for a healthy bowel movement.
