A True Harmony Minute On What to Expect at your Initial OB Appointment by MaryAnn Shostek PA-C in Women's Health

A True Harmony Minute on What to Expect at Your Initial OB appointment:

Hello, I?m Mary Ann Shostek, Certified Physician?s Assistant at the Center for True Harmony Wellness & Medicine.

First off, Congratulations on your Pregnancy! Typically, we recommend your first visit to be when you are about 6 to 8 weeks pregnant. When you come in for your first appointment, we confirm your pregnancy with a test, review your history and perform a complete physical examination including a breast exam, pelvic exam, and Pap smear if you have not had one in the last year.

We then review with you what to expect at your future visits. We go over the schedule of visits, and let you know what testing will be done in the future. We also discuss issues such as dietary recommendations, supplements, exercise, normal body changes, and warning signs in pregnancy. When you leave, you will be given an order to have labs drawn and possibly an order for your first OB ultrasound. Please plan to get here at least 15 minutes prior to your appointment in order to fill out your paperwork. Plan on being here for about one hour for your initial visit. We look forward to seeing you soon!
