Glycine
Glycine is an amino acid, a building block of proteins. It is a conditionally essential amino acid; meaning that our body can make glycine but we also need to get it from our food or supplements to get enough.
Glycine functions as an inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain and central nervous system. This means it acts a mild sedative, promoting relaxation and calming. Glycine is a major component of collagen, providing strength and tone to our skin and connective tissue.
It has also been shown to reduce the pain and inflammation associated with physical injuries, arthrosis, and other degenerative diseases.
